Hannah Cowan is a Toronto based jewellery designer and goldsmith. Having always been attracted to the visual arts and decorative objects she attended the University of Western Ontario where she received a BA in Visual Arts. Following that she pursued her interest in jewellery at the Jewellery Arts Programme at George Brown College. She has since been working in the field of jewellery design and production and in 2007 created her own jewellery company.
Hannah Cowan Jewellery Design was created out of desire to merge art with the everyday wearable. Each design is created to be elegant, feminine and unique. All work is made with precious and semi precious materials including 18 k gold and sterling silver. Company achievements include a sterling silver show piece necklace for Zilberschmuck Gallery and a series of bronze hand crafted spoons for a fundraising initiative at George Brown Culinary School.
Since enrolling with the Bizstart programme, Hannah Cowan has had the opportunity to focus on the growth and exposure of her fine jewellery. By working through business plans, financial criteria, and marketing info she has been able to apply methods and plans to her work ensuring development and growth. One of the most valuable aspects of the programme is the exposure to peers with the same commitment and work ethic that keeps everyone motivated and positive.
